UPDATE **Missing Teen Found. According to the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Brooklyn Newby has been located and is back home safe**

Lunenburg sheriff’s deputies, police officers and state troopers are all searching for a missing teen today. Brooklynn Newby is 14 and a resident of Halifax County. But this past weekend, she disappeared while visiting a friend in Kenbridge. According to the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Newby was last seen on Saturday, April 13 around 9:45 p.m. at a home in town. At that point, she was seen getting into a vehicle and leaving the house. Sheriff’s deputies say they currently have no description of the make, color or model of the vehicle she left in.

Now residents are being asked to help in the search. The 5’5 ft. Newby has brown eyes and multi-color hair, including brown, blonde and black. She was last seen wearing a purple short sleeve shirt and gray sweatpants with Mickey Mouse written down the side. The girl does have ties to Chase City and the surrounding area, sheriff’s deputies say, so it’s possible she could be trying to make it over that way.

Anyone with information about the missing teen is encouraged to call the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office at 434-696-4452 or any other local law enforcement agency.
