The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Wednesday. Items must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Monday for that Wednesday’s calendar. Email events to CommunityCalendar@ KVDispatch.com. 

APRIL 20 

CRUISE IN — The Heart of Virginia Auto Club will hold its first cruise in of the season on Saturday, April 20, at the parking lot by Tractor Supply in Farmville. Bring your classic or antique car to the show or just drop by and check out all the cars. The Cruise in starts at 5 p.m. and runs till dusk. There will be a 50/50 raffle. The club meets the second Monday each month at Merk’s Place in Farmville. Eat in at 6 p.m., meeting at 7 p.m. 

FREE LOCAL MUSIC — The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will host musician Joshua Ray on Saturday, April 20, beginning at 7 p.m. 

APRIL 21 

MORNING WORSHIP — Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services on Sunday, April 21 with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. Dr. Tom Stocks will continue the sermon series titled “Life of David”, with the sermon title “Do You Whistle At Work? 

FAMILY & FRIENDS DAY — Saint Matthews’ Baptist Church in Kenbridge will hold Family and Friends Day on Sunday, April 21, beginning at 3 p.m. Rev. E.R. Buffaloe and the Sharon Baptist Church congregation will be the special guests. 

GUEST PREACHER — New Galilee Baptist Church, located at 4565 Plank Road in Kenbridge, will have Rev. Jimmy Dew of South Hill as a guest preacher on Sunday, April 7. Service starts at 11 a.m.

SPECIAL SERVICE — Gilfield Baptist Church in Kenbridge will hold a ‘Good and Bad Girls of the Bible’ service on Sunday, April 21, beginning at 2 p.m. 

PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY — Friendship Baptist Church, located at 6351 South Hill Road in Kenbridge, will celebrate the 16th anniversary of Pastor Elmus Morgan Jr. and First Lady Evangelist Jacqueline Seward-Morgan, on Sunday, April 21, beginning at 2 p.m. The guest minister will be Rev. Eugene Lott Jr., pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church in White Plains, accompanied by his choir and congregation. 

APRIL 22-26 

REVIVAL — West Hill Baptist Church, located at 10349 Oral Oaks Road in Victoria, will hold their annual spring revival from Monday, April 22 through Friday, April 26. The Reverend Marquis Carlisle of New Bethel Baptist Church will be the guest preacher for the week, with a variety of community church choir and usher ministries invited as well. Services start at 7 p.m. each night. 

APRIL 26 

PALMER SPRINGS FUNDRAISER — The Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Catfish and Shrimp Fest fundraiser on Friday, April 26, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The options will be drive through or dine in for fried catfish, fried shrimp, baked beans, coleslaw, hush puppies, dessert and water for $20 per plate. Dinners available by preorder only, which must be placed by April 24 by calling 434-689-2739 or 434- 689-2661 before 10 p.m. The Palmer Springs Firehouse is at 1697 Palmer Springs Road. 

APRIL 27 

VICTORIA HIGH SCHOOL REUNION — The annual gathering of former students and guests from Victoria High will take place at Lunenburg Middle School, beginning at noon on Saturday, April 27. No advance registration is required for the luncheon. The cost is $20 for a baked chicken meal, payable at the door. All who attended Victoria High and their guests are welcome. FREE LOCAL MUSIC — The Rosewood, located at 11426 Courthouse Road in Lunenburg, will host musician Russell Lynch on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 7 p.m. 

ONGOING 

CHURCH SERVICES — Bethany Baptist Church, located at 5968 Plank Road in Kenbridge, holds worship services on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. Sunday School is every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Bring your Bible. Face masks are required and social distancing is practiced. All are welcome. 

CHURCH SERVICES — Victoria Evangelical Presbyterian Church, located at 1419 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services each Sunday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. 

CHURCH SERVICES — New Grove Baptist Church is open for in-person morning worship and teleconferences on the second and fourth Sundays at 11 a.m. In-person Sunday School will be held every week at 10 a.m. The call-in telephone number is 301-715- 8592. CHURCH SERVICES — New Galilee Baptist Church, located at 4565 Plank Road in Kenbridge, has re-opened its church doors for in-person and teleconference services. These will be held every first and third Sunday, beginning at 11 a.m. Masks are required and people are asked to bring their own Bible. 

CHURCH SERVICES — Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 127 Oak Grove Road, holds worship services on each first and third Sunday at 11:30 a.m. under the leadership of Rev. Boris Bullock. 

VFW MEETINGS — The VFW and VFW Auxiliary meet at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at VFW Post No. 9954 in Victoria. The members of the VFW and the Auxiliary share a dinner at 6:15 p.m. prior to the meeting.
