MAY 17 

MUSIC IN THE PARK — The Town of Victoria will hold another ‘Music in the Park’ celebration on Friday, May 17 with performances by Chap Cash and Danny Dalton. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Railroad Park. 

MAY 18 

FARMERS MARKET OPEN — The Kenbridge Farmers Market is open now for the 2024 season, running from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, May 18. The market is held on East Fifth Avenue, just across from the Kenbridge Recreation Center. 

MEDITATION FOR BUSY PEOPLE — The Victoria Public Library will host a meditation session from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18. The event is free and open to the public, as attendees will learn and experience simple research-based meditation techniques which improve wellness of body, mind, emotions and spirit. CRUISE-IN — The Heart of Virginia Classic Car Club will hold its monthly cruise-in on Saturday, May 18, in the parking lot by Tractor Supply in Farmville. The event will run from 5 p.m. until dusk. 

MAY 19 

MORNING WORSHIP — Victoria Baptist Church, located at 1423 8th Street in Victoria, will hold worship services on Sunday, May 19 with Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11 a.m. Dr. Tom Stocks will continue the sermon series titled “Life of David”, with the sermon title “It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over”. 

ANNUAL DAY — Oak Grove Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will hold their Annual Day on Sunday, May 19, beginning at 2 p.m. This is similar to an anniversary, but in Oak Grove tradition, it’s simply called ‘Annual Day’. Rev. Raven Stevenson of Bloomfield Baptist Church, along with First Baptist Church of Victoria will be the guests. Missionaries are asked to wear white. 

PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY — Springfield Baptist Church will celebrate the fourth anniversary of their pastor, Rev. Dr. Ozie Bradford Jr., on Sunday, May 19, beginning at 3 p.m. Rev. Lawrence T. Wilkerson Sr., Pastor of the Bluestone Baptist Church in Skipwith, will deliver the message, with songs of praise provided by the Springfield Choir. 

USHERS’ ANNIVERSARY — Mt. Bethel Baptist Church Ushers’ Ministry will celebrate its anniversary on Sunday, May 19, beginning at 3 p.m. The guest preacher will be Rev. Sharon Baskerville, Pastor of Bloomhill Baptist Church. The White Sisters will provide the music. 

MAY 22-MAY 24 

SPRING REVIVAL — Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church, located at 3606 Kenbridge Road in Blackstone, will hold a Women of God three night Spring Revival from May 22 to May 24, beginning nightly at 7 p.m. The theme is “Lessons Learned from the Life of Ruth”. The guest ministers will be Rev. Dr. Vanessa Hicks and the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church family; Associate Minister Rev. Aileen Moorman and the St. Matthew’s Baptist Church family and Associate Minister Rev. Beverly Holmes and the Cellar Creek Baptist Church family. 

SPRING REVIVAL — Zion Hill Baptist Church in Victoria will hold a Spring Revival from May 22 to May 24, starting nightly at 7 p.m. The guest speakers will include Rev. Michael Brown, Pastor of Mayflower Baptist Church in Kenbridge on Wednesday; Rev. Dennis King, Pastor of Rocky Mount Church in Chase City on Thursday and Rev. Tyrone Brown, Pastor of Macedonia Church in Keysville on Friday. 

MAY 24 

FIRE DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER — Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department will hold a fried chicken dinner fundraiser on Friday, May 24, running from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be drive through and dine in options available, with a menu of fried chicken, green beans, boiled potatoes, a roll, dessert and water for $12 per plate. Preorders are highly encouraged and may be placed by calling 434-689-2739 prior to 10 a.m. Preorders will be accepted until 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 23. The Palmer Springs Volunteer Fire Department is located at 1697 Palmer Springs Road. 

MAY 25 

FARMERS MARKET OPEN — The Kenbridge Farmers Market is open now for the 2024 season, running from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, May 25. The market is held on East Fifth Avenue, just across from the Kenbridge Recreation Center. 

MAY 26 

MISSIONARY PROGRAM — The First Baptist Church Greater Works Missionary Ministry, located at 821 Lunenburg Avenue in Victoria, will hold a missionary program on Sunday, May 26, beginning at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. Deborah Daniels. 

JUNE 2 

CHOIR ANNIVERSARY — First Baptist Church, located at 821 Lunenburg Avenue in Victoria, will hold a 97th anniversary for the church’s senior choir, with various singing groups on hand. The event begins at 3 p.m.
