Charlie Clyde Toone was born on February 9, 1951 in Liberty, New York to Jackson and Bernice Bowling Toone. He attended public school in Yonkers, New York.

As a child, he took great pride in working a newspaper route. Charlie joined Calvary Baptist Church, Victoria, Virginia. He also joined the United States Marines where he was deployed to Vietnam. Charlie fought bravely for his country and received an honorable discharge. He worked in the factory a few years after leaving the military and before he became disabled.

Charlie met Crystal B. Hickson in 1992 and they married on August 15, 1993 in Chase City, Virginia. He did not have biological children but helped Crystal raise her four children as if they were his. Charlie spent his years as a loving brother, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather and devoted husband. Charlie was a loving and dependable person with a giving heart.

He is predeceased by his parents, Jackson and Bernice Toone; sister, Roseanne Toone, brother, Jack Toone, Jr.; stepson, Thomas Bagley.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Crystal B. Toone of Victoria, Virginia; step-children; Bobbie ELMadany of Victoria, Virginia; Otis Bagley of Kenbridge, Virginia and Ron Bagley of Victoria, Virginia; five grandchildren; James Bagley, Karima EIMadany, Jeremy Fletcher, Atallah ELMadany and R’Mani Bagley, three great-grandchildren; Bryce Fowlkes, Idris EIMadany, and Jaime Fletcher. Charlie is also survived by three sisters, Joanne Toone Rogers of Roanoke, Virginia; Joyce Marie Toone of Mount Vernon, New York; Amy Elizabeth Toone-Bacon of Richmond, Virginia; two brothers; Wallace Bowling of Stanton Island, New York; Raymond C. Toone of South Boston, Virginia, one aunt Juanita Jones of Chase City and a host of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, September 13, 1 p.m. at S.P. Jones Chapel, Kenbridge, with the Rev. Dorothy Ogburn provided words of comfort. Interment was in the Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Victoria.
