Princeton Elliot Crowner I was born August 21, 1992 in Richmond, Virginia to Sheila Hawthorne-Loum and Gareth G. Crowner. Princeton departed his life on earth January 20, 2020 in Clarksville, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his sister Empress S. Pope, his grandparents Collins and Lile Hawthorne Sr., and Purrell Crowner, his aunt Sabrina Hawthorne-Perry, and uncle Tony J. Robertson, Sr.

Princeton was baptized at an early age and joined the Cascade United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. When he moved back to Virginia, he joined First Baptist Church in Victoria, Virginia where he was a member and served faithfully on the Pastor’s Aide Ministry.

He graduated from Central of Lunenburg High School in 2011. He played on the high school football team and received all-district honors as defensive end. Princeton was pursuing his Bachelor of Science Degree with Western Governor University in Network Operations and Security. He was due to graduate in April 2021.

Princeton joined the United States Army July 2011 and attended basic training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and advanced individual training at Fort Lee, Virginia. His duty stations included, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and one tour in Afghanistan. He served as an Army Information Technology Specialist. His awards included: Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Achievement Medal (2), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (2), Army Service Ribbon, and the NATO Training Mission Iraq Ribbon.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythagoras and the DSS Motorcycle Club.

Princeton would always quote his Grandfather Collins’ words when leading the family in prayer, “Lord bless and bind us and throw us in the ditch where the devil can’t find us.”

Farrar III; great uncle, Mutrey Gooden (Jennette); great aunts, Dedra Smithson and Doris Brown; aunts, Marilyn A. Robertson, Debbie D. Hawthorne, Sylvia Hawthorne, Cindy Hawthorne, Susie E. Hawthorne, Charlotte Hawthorne, and Mary Crowner-Taylor; uncles, Collins L. Hawthorne Jr., Nathan E. Hawthorne (Tomeji), Collins Thomas (Raquel), Kelly Thomas, Elliot Crowner, Lamont Crowner, Caralis Crowner (Letita), and James M. Robertson; godmothers, Sandra Green and Joyce Moseley; godfathers, Kirk Green and Rodney Daniel; special cousin, China Y. Ragsdale; best friends, Garret Garnett and SSG Atallah Elmadary; god sisters, Tijoy Daniel, Kode Robinson-Brooks, Ah’Lexis Daniel, Dajia Daniel, and Raven Jennings; god brother, Roderick Lewis; godsons, Kayden Garnett and Idris Elmadany; men-tors, Kevin Hodges, Diaconate Ministries of First Baptist, Sylvania Hack, Bri-an Reed, the late Calvin Ingram, and Micah Hawkins; pets, Foxii and Adonis, a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, February 1, 2020, 11:00 a.m. at Central High School, Victoria, Virginia with the Rev. Violet F. Oliver, Pastor.
