Alfred Jackson Sr. was born July 24, 1924 in Lunenburg County, Virginia to Hurbert A. Tisdale and Mary J. Harris.

He attended Lunenburg County public schools.

On July 23, 1933, he was baptized and joined New Grove Baptist Church, Kenbridge, Virginia under the now late pastorate of Reverend W. H. Salley. He remained a member until his demise.

Alfred honorably served his country in WWII. He was employed and retired from Railway Handle Corporation after many years of service.

On November 1, 1952 he was joined in holy matrimony to Maxine Elizabeth Smith and to this union five children were born.

Alfred and Maxine opened their home and added to their family, James Lee Taylor and Geraldine Callahan.

Alfred transitioned to his new home on April 25, 2020 at Farmville Health and Rehabilitation Center, Farmville, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maxine E. Jackson, and adopted daughter, Geraldine Callahan.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children; Louise (Wavly) Chaffin of Victoria, Virginia; Alfred (Barbara) Jackson of Dundas, Virginia; Christine Watkins, LaVerne (Floyd) Edmonds, James (Linda) Taylor, and Steve Jackson all of Victoria, Virginia; brother, David Lee (Christine) Harris of Victoria, Virginia; God-daughter, Elsie Banks of Victoria, Virginia; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held Monday, April 27, 11 a.m. at New Grove Baptist Church, Kenbridge, Virginia, with the Rev. Dr. Curtis W. Bagley, Jr., pastor and the Rev. Patricia C. Barnette providing words of comfort.

S.P. Jones and Son Funeral Home served the family.
