The Central Chargers JV football team finally got their season under way last Thursday night after having previous games cancelled and turned into a scrimmage. The Chargers continued their win streak from last week with a 33-14 victory at home against Randolph Henry.

Central got on the board early with an onside kick recovery and two long runs from Ceonte Watts. Noah Dunbar took the ball in from one yard out and Central led 7-0.

The two teams struggled for a few series as several stops followed by a pair of fumbles for both teams kept the score at 7-0 through the first quarter.

The Chargers got a fumble recovery around the Randolph Henry 20-yard line and Central pounded the ball with Watts scoring on a one-yard run to make the score 8-0.

Jah’Tavious Houston intercepted a Statesmen pass on the next series and Central was back on offense at midfield. The Chargers gave the ball right back to the Statesmen as they picked up a Central fumble and returned it for a touchdown to make the score 13-6 with 4:27 left in the half.

The Chargers answered that score with one of their own when Jackson Dalton threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Jeffrey Goodwin that put Central up 21-6.

Randolph Henry answered back again as it connected on a long touchdown pass just before halftime that sent the teams to intermission with Central ahead 21-14.

Central came out in the second half and got a score in the third quarter on a 10-yard touchdown run by Dontae Crowder that put Central up 27-14. Central threatened several more times and scored another late touchdown to pull away further late in the game and claim a 33-14 victory.

The JV Chargers will travel to Prince Edward on Thursday night for their second contest of the season.
