Rites held for Thomas ‘Tom’ Ray Rutledge Jr.

RUTLEDGE, Thomas “Tom” Ray Jr., 73, of Powhatan, formally of Kenbridge, Va., went to be with the Lord December 15, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas R. and Dorothy E. Rutledge Sr.; grandson, Trestan; sister, Estelle Harvey. He is survived by his wife, Shannon; and constant pet companion, Delilah; his daughters, Tracy (Jamie) and Kimberly (Brian); grandchildren, Caleb, Brennan, Madisan, Tavian, Kaygan and Lucy; sister, Thelma Gentry Atkins; nephews, Michael and Jeffrey Gentry of Kenbridge, Va.; mother-in-law, Marie Schreiner; very special brother-in-law, Alan Schreiner, both of Fairhope, Ala.;brother in law, Dave Gross of Mobile, Ala.; two sisters-in-law, Charlotte McKee of Mobile, Ala., and Amy Everson of Hoover, Ala. Tom loved to listen to bluegrass music and playing the banjo. He retired from Wheat First Securities. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 20, 2015, 2 to 4 p.m., at Bliley’s-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where services will be held Monday, December 21, 2015, 12 p.m. Interment Hollywood Cemetery.
