William (Billy) Edward Whitby, 72 of Huntersville, NC, formerly of Victoria, VA passed away Saturday March 12, 2016. He was the son of the late William and Edna Conner Whitby and was preceded in death by his brother Eddie Lee Whitby.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Donelle Ranson Whitby, sons, William Bryan (Kim) of Huntersville and Kevin Hunter (Laura) of Charlotte, grandchildren, Delaney, Blakely, and Davis and his sisters Ann Golden of Ellicott City, MD, Nancy Kerns of Charlotte, NC and Elsie Shelton of Phenix, VA.

After graduating from Victoria High School in 1961, he signed a baseball contract with the Minnesota Twins and played from then until 1965.

Bill retired after working for many years with Yellow Freight Co. and enjoyed farming (cattle) and raising a huge garden.
