Duery Allen Smith Sr., 86, of Meherrin, Virginia passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Duery was born May 17, 1929 in Lunenburg County, Virginia to the late Morty Smith and Minnie Smith (Stokes).  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Smith (Cox), one grandson James Smith Jr., brothers Joe Lewis, James, Charles and sisters Fannie, Ella, Virginia and Betty.  Surviving sisters are Dorothy (Jack) Hazelwood of Victoria, Virginia, and Annie Washington of Wendell North Carolina and his aunt Martha Stokes.  Memorial services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Meherrin, VA at 1846 Moores Ordinary Rd at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2016.
