Rites To Be Held For Virginia Jackson Edmonds

Virginia Jackson Edmonds was born to Herman Eldridge Jackson and Mary Ella Clay on November 26, 1939 in Kenbridge. On Friday, June 28, 2013 at the age of 73, she departed our presence and subsequently went home to be with the Lord.

Virginia grew up as the youngest of seven siblings and received her education in the Lunenburg County Public School System. On July 7, 1956, she married George Roosevelt (Toby) Edmonds Jr. and together they raised three sons.

Virginia, who had a knack for sewing and altering garments, also enjoyed crocheting. She held several jobs in the clothing industry during her time here with us. She was employed by Levi Strauss in Blackstone, Aileen’s Clothes Factory in Victoria, and Virginia Quilting Inc. in South Hill. Virginia also provided in-home health Care for the Elderly and Recovering Adults. She enjoyed working in her garden and sharing produce with family and friends.

Virginia was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served in the Senior Choir and performed choir treasury duties.

She is survived by her children, George (Princess) Kenneth and Rodney (Tracy) Edmonds; grandchildren, Steven and Anton (Kenneth), Theophilus, Leontaye, Ondrea, Earl, Jeffrey, and Johnathan (George) DaQuan and LaQuandra (Rodney); great-grandchildren, Nathan (Theo), Passion (Johnathan), Khanya and Kihran (Steven), Kayden and Kylie (LaQuandra); siblings, Edna Miller, Emma Bryant, Willie Lee Jackson; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Roosevelt Edmonds Jr., her siblings, Randolph and Phillip Jackson and Betty Sue Coles, and her parents, Herman and Mary.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 4 at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, Kenbridge.
