CANNING WORKSHOP, 6-8 p.m. sponsored by Virginia Cooperative Extension at the Southern Piedmont AREC, 2375 Darvills Road, Blackstone. Class topics include the science of canning, canning recipes, storage of canned goods and how to can with a pressure, hot water bath and steam canners. Canning equipment will be on display and used as we discuss the various methods. Registered participants will receive a bound copy of the USDA Guide to Home Canning.

LUNENBURG GIRL’S SOFTBALL 31-TOTE BINGO, 2-5 p.m. with doors opening at 1 p.m. at the Kenbridge Emergency Squad Building. Tickets will be $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Come out for raffles, food and fun. For more information, contact Joanie Wallace at (434) 480-5220.

JUNE 16-18

CLOVER CAMP, at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox, will be held June 16-18. Cloverbud Camp is designed to introduce children ages 5-8 to the 4-H camping experience. A trained volunteer leader will be present for every five campers. Cost will be $87 per camper if registered before May 26. After that, cost will be $97 per camper. LUNENBURG 4-H CAMP WEEK, at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center in Appomattox. This camp is geared for all youth ages 9-13 (as of Sept. 30, 2017). The total cost per child will be $195 which includes overnight lodging, meals, insurance, counselor and adult supervision, classes, program costs, camp T-shirt and transportation to and from camp. Campers have the opportunity to participate in exciting classes, with many options to choose from, including scuba, canoeing, riflery, archery, swimming and horsemanship. There are also swimming and recreation times, special evening events, songs, games and much more.
