High winds cause power outages

Gusty winds caused power outages throughout Lunenburg County on Friday, according to data from Southside Electric Cooperative (SEC) and Dominion Energy.
An outage map from the SEC cites approximately 798 outages in the county as of 4:20 p.m. Friday. To report power outages to SEC, call (866) 878-5514.

“Windy weather conditions may cause downed power lines,” a notice from Dominion Power cied. “Stay clear of lines and report to (866) 366-4357.”
The National Weather Service said Friday that a wind advisory will remain in effect until Saturday morning. Wind speeds are estimated to range 20-30 mph. Gusts could exceed 50 mph.
“Strong wind gusts may cause downed tree limbs and small trees,” a release from the National Weather Service cited. “Scattered power outages are possible.”
