The third-seeded Central High School football team visited No. 2 William Campbell High School in the Region 1B semifinal for the second straight year Friday night, but the game was nothing like last season’s 45-12 Generals win. The Chargers proved much more competitive this year, challenging William Campbell significantly before ultimately falling 27-24.

During the two teams’ regular-season showdown Aug. 31, the Generals topped Central 41-21, but the Chargers showed marked improvement as the season went on.

After starting the season 1-3, Central finished with an overall record of 7-5.
