Lunenburg Middle School Principal Sharon Stanislas said her experience and appreciation for the county extends beyond the 12 years she has worked with Lunenburg County Public Schools (LCPS).

Her experience with the county had begun with her parents, who had lived in Lunenburg County when she was born, Stanislas said.

“What many people don’t know is that my parents were residents of Lunenburg County when I was born,” Stanislas said. “We moved to Mecklenburg County when I was around 3 years old.”

Stanislas worked as a guidance counselor with the LCPS before becoming principal in 2015.

“I am extremely appreciative of the leadership style that Mr. (Charles) Berkley and his Central Office Staff exude,” Stanislas said. “I have been given the autonomy to provide input into the decision making process of running my building and this has enabled me to provide the most effective leadership. This level of confidence provides motivation and encouragement to continue to excel in this role. Moreover, I am thankful that each board member is personable and approachable.”

While Stanislas currently resides in Mecklenburg, she said she keenly feels the sense of community in the Lunenburg area and among the students and faculty.

“I have experienced the great hospitality that is provided by the people in this community,” Stanislas said. “They are always willing to combine resources to help a worthy cause. I also do a lot of my grocery shopping in the area; it is much easier to stop on my way home.”

When asked what three words best describe Stanislas, she said, “confident, team player, compassionate.”

Stanislas said outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, dancing and cooking.

She also said she likes listening to a wide range of music from gospel, to country, R&B and reggae.

“I’m pretty diverse,” Stanislas said with a laugh.

Taking part in outreach events is also something Stanislas enjoys doing in her spare time.

“I also enjoy serving in various capacities in my church and participating in other outreach community projects,” Stanislas said.
