The Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) has announced it is opening new state veterans offices.

According to a press release, the new Emporia DVS office will be co-located with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Emporia Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) at 1746 Atlantic St.

This office is scheduled to open by mid-March.

The new South Hill DVS office will be located at the Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center, at 118 East Danville Road. The office was scheduled to open March 1.

Both offices will be open weekdays, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., the release noted. There will be certain days each month when DVS representatives may not be available and these offices may be closed, as staff will be serving veterans at other locations. “Our goal at the Department of Veterans Services is to serve veterans and family members in their communities,” said DVS Commissioner John L. Newby II in a press release. “The new state veterans offices in South Hill and Emporia will make it easier for those living in Emporia, South Hill, the counties of Greenville and Mecklenburg, and throughout the Southside to meet one-on-one with our trained and accredited representatives to receive the federal and state benefits they earned through their service to our Nation.”
